After a long sleep, we need to get some energy and with an empty fridge at the hostel we are on the way for our first shopping. Luckily the shopping mall is only 10 minuts walking from the hostel. At the beginning it seems just a normal shopping center but wondering around and looking for a supermarket it becomes clear that here in Canada they have other standards. Finding the shop you are looking for might be quite a task. Several hall ways divided into 3 levels, stairways, inside gardens, a climbing wall and a floor entirely dedicated to food and beverage of all kinds: sushi, vietnamese, BBQ grill, tex-mex, chinese, burgers, italian, portuguese, greek, indian, salad bars, open take-away wok kitchen and a whole variety of fresh fruit and vegetable juices. Once we find the supermarket we realize that everything here is big. Such an offer of big sized products just make us dizzy. Open mouthed we stare at racks full of 5 kg bags of marshmallows and 3 litres bottles of ketchup. After quite some time we finally can decide what to buy and more important what not.
Canada is a cold country and needs more than an alf of the year insight shopping for comfortable social life of consumption.
Later on the day we decide to have a walk along the charming seewall of several kilometers. Passing by beautiful small harbours, gardens, fancy beaches and even an aguaplane airport, we end up at the Stanley Park.
Vancouver is clean and green and that is something to be proud of!
