Boise, Boise, Boise,…we’re looking for a good time!!!

30/05/2013

After 11 hours of bus and not too much sleep, we arrive at Boise, a cute town nobody ever heard of in the state of Idaho… from now on dear readers, thanks to us, you have learned about a state called Idaho.

Boise is the capital and for the moment the fastest growing city in U.S.A. it even has its own university.   It has also the biggest Basque community living out of País Vasco.  35.000 personas speaking Basque, eating and celebrating Basque traditions!!!  Why?  Because they are sportive (they have their own US Federation of Pelota)?  Because of their haircut? …no!  In the 1910s they first arrived to pursue jobs in shepherding.  Boise is unknown and for this everything surprises us.  We walk the quite streets and find some well-heeled wine bars and Parisian-style bistros.  Short stop, hot chocolate and nice talk, and on we go with finding ourselves in a kind of decoration ceremony.  Really movie-like because only there I ever have seen so many American flags together.

Later on the day our host Diane, picks us up and drives us (first wrong and we ended up at the state prison…where she asks the way to one of the female prisoners… you guess wright…they don’t know.  So that is something not everyone can see on a holiday.) to the Birds of Prey visiting center.  And wow, they have all kinds of birds but the Californian Condor certainly the biggest.

There are just about 400 in the world and they have 60 of them as for a repopulation project.  We also get a look at the Pellegrino Falcon, the fastest animal on earth. Just to cool!  Diane takes us to her house in a peaceful neighborhood. Cozy house where we have our own bedroom and bathroom…that’s a suite like in a hotel.  Our host, a world traveler and definitely a Latin lover(she loves Italy and knows a lot about it, speaks some of it and likes the food), the best host ever wished.  She loves cooking and wine.  Tonight the BBQ is on, so with a glass of very tasty wine we make a toast and have a long diner.
